Central Arizona Dental Society Mission of Mercy 2014

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
October 8, 2014

Scottsdale, AZ. Celebrity Artist, Nicolosi, scheduled to appear at the Central Arizona Dental Society Foundation (CADSF)inaugural fundraising event. The CADSF fundraiser will be held on October 15, 2014 at 6:30pm at Dierks Bentley’s Whiskey Rowrestaurant in Old Town, Scottsdale, Arizona.  The fundraiser will feature live music from local acts King Koalition and Black Mountain Ambush, according to Kevin Conroy, Executive Director of CADSF, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. As host and Platinum Sponsor of CADSF, Riot Hospitality Group is donating a generous percentage of the proceeds from the evening to support the Foundation.

Mr. Conroy said “Not only is Nicolosi a world famous artist, but he is also a dentist who cares deeply about reaching people in our community that lack access to basic dental care.”  “We are extremely fortunate to have Dr. Nicolosi lend his enormous star power and God-given talent to help dental professionals in Arizona make a difference in people’s lives”, Conroy continued.

Dr. Eileen Guggenheim personally chose Nicolosi artwork to hang in The New York Academy of Arts and included Nicolosi on Guggenheim’s list of the: Top One Hundred Artists in the United States. In addition to the live music, the evening will feature a silent auction with a wide variety of items up for bid.  In keeping with the music theme, Nicolosi has secured a very special item from Los Angeles with him to be the featured item of the silent auction – A bass guitar autographed by legendary music Superstar and founding member of the Grammy winning group Earth, Wind & Fire – Verdine White.  With over 40 years in the music business, Earth, Wind & Fire are still on tour and still going strong. Nicolosi will make a special appearance on stage to unveil and introduce the donation item.

In 2012 and 2013, the Central Arizona Dental Society Foundationhas hosted Dental Mission of Mercy (AZMOM) events at the Arizona State Fairgrounds in Phoenix, AZ.  Due to the overwhelming success of these events, CADS AZMOM will once again be conducting the clinic at the Arizona State Fairgrounds onDecember 12th – 13th 2014.

CADS AZMOM utilizes 100 portable dental units and requires over 1,500 volunteers at this event.  The first two events changed the lives of so many people in Arizona.  Each event had more than 300 dentists, along with at least as many dental assistants and hundreds of dental hygienists along with about 600 lay volunteers.  The entire central Arizona area dental community came together over a two-day period and hosted the largest charitable dental clinic ever held in the State of Arizona.

The first-come, first-served two-day clinic provides basic dental care such as fillings, extractions and cleanings.  Limited lab work (i.e., stainless-steel crowns for children, treatment partials) will be offered.

Arizona residents suffer from higher rates of dental disease and benefit less from proven preventative methods than other states.  A recent survey revealed that 21% of Arizona adults and 31% of Arizona children have never had a dental check-up. Additionally, Arizonans report one of their major barriers to receiving dental services relates to finances.  While 24% of Arizonans lack medical insurance, over 44% of adults and 38% of children lack dental insurance.

More Arizonans have dental disease than found nationally, while many report difficulty accessing dental services.  In just two years, CADS AZMOM, has treated over 3,500 individuals and provided approximately $3.7 Million in free dental care to children and adults in our state.
